About Kevin

Born and raised in the National Capital region, Kevin is a member of a prominent local golf family. Kevin attended the University of Illinois on a golf scholarship and competed successfully on a Division I NCAA Golf Team. A teammate of PGA Tour player Steve Stricker, Kevin competed against many of today's most successful professionals and experienced many of North America's finest courses. Kevin majored in Communications at the number 1 ranked communication school in the United States and was awarded The George Huff Award for Outstanding Academics and Athletics in 1985.

Kevin returned to Ottawa after graduating and capped a successful amateur career by winning both the Ottawa Valley Stroke and Match Play Championships in 1986. He turned professional in 1987 and experienced immediate success winning the CPGA Ottawa Zone Championship the first time he competed in the event. Since then he has won over 20 CPGA Ottawa Zone tournaments. In 1996 he was named Player of the Year and won the Ottawa Zone Championship becoming the first professional to win the title three times.

Although he has had substantial success as a player, Kevin's true passion is teaching. His background in communications coupled with his years of practice and vast competitive experiences give Kevin all the tools necessary to improve any golfer.

Kevin heads the Kevin Haime Golf School. During the last 15 years over 30000 students have enjoyed lessons with he and his staff of Canadian PGA Professionals. Today the Kevin Haime Golf School leads the industry with full service golf instruction and innovative learning programs for golfers of all ages and skill levels.

The Kevin Haime Golf School has a newly constructed world class location at it's new home on Hazeldean Road, The Kevin Haime Golf Centre in Kanata which was designed, built, and is owned by Kevin and his wife Lisa.

Kevin's other golf accomplishments include his nomination in 1995 to the C.P.G.A. Ottawa Zone Board of Directors where, as captain, he founded the Clubs for Kids Golf Tour and charity which donated over 200 sets of clubs to needy kids in the National Capital Region. Kevin also co-founded Future Pro Golf Camps with sports psychologist Nadeane McCaffrey which has introduced golf to hundreds of kids in recent years.

In 1998 Kevin was nominated as President of the C.P.G.A. Ottawa Zone, a position he held for two years. Kevin was named the 1997, 2000 and 2009 Canadian PGA Ottawa Zone Teacher of the Year by his peers. In 2000 Kevin was also awarded the 2000 PGA Teacher of the Year Award for Canada, the top award for golf instructors in this country. In 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 Kevin was chosen as the Readers Choice Award for Favourite Teacher by the readers of Flagstick Golf Magazine. He has also been named a Top 50 Teacher in North America by Golf Range Magazine in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. The C.P.G.A. Ottawa Zone also recognized Kevin in 2004 with a Special Recognition Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Ottawa P.G.A. In 2005 Kevin was named a Top Ten Teacher in Canada by the National Post, Canada's leading newspaper.

Kevin has been hosting this two-hour instructional golf show for the past twelve years.
