Finding the right spot to take your lessons is really important. Just how do you know where to start? It's actually pretty simple - make sure you're learning from a CPGA professional. The Canadian Professional Golfers' Association (CPGA) was founded in 1911 with a commitment to improve and promote the game. Today there are over 3500 CPGA golf professionals across Canada. Member professionals must all pass a playability test just to enter the association and then go through a 5 to 7 year apprenticeship before becoming an A class golf professional. The Kevin Haime Golf School has always, and will always, hire only the best CPGA teachers in the game. Today, our team if six teachers has over 90 years of combined CPGA teaching experience. In 2000 Kevin was awarded the highest honour available to a CPGA teaching professional. He was named the National CPGA Teacher of the Year. Unfortunately, many golf facilities hire non - CPGA golf teachers. It's important to understand that there is no regulating body to oversee all golf teaching. Virtually any golfer can call himself a teaching pro and charge for lessons. Any other accreditation besides a CPGA accreditation involves no more than, at most, a few days training process. Basically any golfer can pay a fee, take a small training course and then call themselves a certified golf teacher. Many so-called golf teaching federations or organizations sound pretty impressive and professional but they are not. Before paying anybody for a golf lesson, make sure they are an experienced CPGA Golf Professional. Better lessons lead to better golf and remember, better golf is a lot more fun! |
